Roseville's Rice Street Road and Bridge Project Resumes

Fall completion still expected.

Construction work on the Rice Street bridge and ramp project at Highway 36 in Roseville has resumed following the end of the Minnesota state government shutdown last week.

"There will be paving (this week) on a number of areas including the southeast ramp and County Road B west of Rice Street" said Beth Engum, a project engineer from the St. Paul office of Kimley-Horn Associates which is overseeing the construction.

Work on the  $16.5 million Rice Street project-which is being headed up by the Minnesota Department of Transportation- was idled for three weeks when state government shut down due to a budget stalemate between the Minnesota Legislature and Gov. Mark Dayton.

Barring the state shutdown, the interchange ramp work would be substantially completed by now, Engum said. She said she expects to get an updated completion schedule from the general contractor, Lunda Construction Co., by the end of this week.

Meanwhile, Engum said she still expects the project to be done by its original completion date, the end of October.
