Six Roseville High Students Are Commended in National Merit Scholarship Competition

Honor puts them in top 5 percent of competitors.

Roseville Area High School Principal Jenny Loeck said that seniors Erin Birdsall, Linnea Cederberg, Benjamin Dion, Brennan Kelly, Alia Jeraj and Sarah Tawfic have been named Commended Students in the 2012 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Each of the six students will receive a letter of commendation from their school and the National Merit Scholarship Corp. (NMSC), which conducts the program.

Although they will not continue in the 2012 competition for National Merit Scholarships, Commended students placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2012 competition by taking the 2010 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT), according to officials at the NMSC.

Across the nation, there are about 34,000 National Merit Commended Students recognized  for their exceptional academic promise.
