Update ( 2:00 p.m.):Β
At about 12:30 p.m. today, officials from Bay West, a Twin Cities environmental and industrial services company, arrived at Highcrest and County Road in Roseville to begin the cleanup of the chemical spill.Β
David Brosnahan, Roseville Fire Department battalion chief, estimated that it could take the Bay West crew from 30 minutes up to two hours to cleanup the spill.Β
In the meantime, residents within a two-block area of the incident at County Road D and Highcrest were being advised to stay in their homes and turn off their home HVAC (heating ventilation and air conditioning systems Β until the cleanup is complete.Β
"Overall, this is a minor incident," Brosnahan said.
But as a matter of routine, several cities responded to the emergency call.
On the scene were four units Β from the Roseville Fire Department along fire and rescue crews from St. Anthony, Minneapolis, Fridley,Β Lake Johanna and New Brighton.Β
Emergency service vehicles responding to the call included Minneapolis Heavy Rescue No. 9 Hazardous Materials Unit.Β
St. Anthony Police Chief John Ohl said he believe that a truck carrying swimming pool cleaning supplies, possibly some kind of acid, was involved in the leak. Β Fire officials said the truck began leaking the chemical on to the roadway just inside the eastern boundary of St. Anthony Village. and then came to a stop just inside the Roseville border.Β
The incident occurred around 10:30 a..m.Β
