The Vitamin Shoppe Coming to Roseville

National retailer to take space at former TGI Friday's at Rosedale Commons.

The Vitamin Shoppe is coming to Roseville.

The New Jersey-based specialty retailer of nutritional products plans to open a 6,500 square-foot store at the site of the former TGI Friday’s restaurant at Rosedale Commons, said a leasing agent for the center.

“They (the Vitamin Shoppe) are pretty new to the market,” said Kris Schisel, a senior associate for the Welsh Companies in the Twin Cities.  She anticipates the Vitamin Shoppe’s Roseville store will open by late October.

Schisel said the remaining 3,500 square feet at the former Friday’s building will be leased to a new restaurant. She couldn’t disclose the identity of the new restaurant, however, explaining a deal is still being worked out.

The Vitamin Shoppe currently has stores in Woodbury, St. Louis Park, Coon Rapids and Burnsville. Founded in 1977, The Vitamin Shoppe today has more than 500 stores in 38 states.

Last month, the publicly-traded company reported second-quarter earnings of 40 cents a share, up from 26 cents a share for the same quarter in 2010.

Meanwhile, the chain posted an eight percent increase in same-store sales for the second quarter. Same-store sales, or sales at stores open at least a year, are a key measure of a retailer’s financial health.
