Trash Talk in Roseville: Forums Scheduled on Organized Garbage Hauling

Organized trash collection. Why is it a good idea? Why is it so controversial? What are the challenges to its implementation?
Those and other questions will be the focus of Tuesday (today) and Wednesday (Feb. 21-22) unit meetings of the Roseville-Maplewood-Falcon Height chapter of the Minnesota League of Women Voters. The meetings are free and open to the public.

Speakers are Roseville state Rep. Mindy Greiling, who is authoring a bill on the issue in the Minnesota House of Representatives; Tim Pratt, recycling coordinator and communications specialist for the City of Roseville, and John Nephew, a former city councilman in Maplewood, which recently adopted a controversial organized trash collection plan.
The Tuesday, Feb. 21 meeting will at the Little Venetian Restaurant, 2900 Rice Street, Little Canada. A social hour and dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by a meeting at 7 p.m.

The Wednesday, Feb. 22 meeting will be at 9:30 a.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 2561 N. Victoria Ave., Roseville.
