Comedian, Minnesota Native Louie Anderson Dies At 68

In 2016, the comedian and actor won an Emmy for his role as the mother to twins, both played by Zach Galifianakis, in the show "Baskets."

LAS VEGAS — Standup comedian, actor, and Minnesota native Louie Anderson died Friday. He was 68.

Anderson died at a hospital in Las Vegas of complications from cancer, his publicist confirmed. Anderson had non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Anderson was born and raised in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and attended Johnson High School.

Anderson won two Daytime Emmy Awards his voice work in "Life With Louie," which ran from 1995 to 1998. He went on to host the revived "Family Feud" game show from 1999 to 2002.

In 2016, Anderson won an Emmy for outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series for his performance in "Baskets." In that series, Anderson played the mother to twins, both played by Zach Galifianakis.
