ST. PAUL, MN — Gov. Tim Walz on Wednesday announced a new addition to his family.

"Say hello to Honey! The newest member of the Walz family," the governor said in a social media post. "She’s a rescue-pet and already has a few favorite spots: under the tree and right on top of whatever I'm trying to read.

Walz said their previous family cat, "Afton," went missing in August and still hasn't been found.

"My family is immensely grateful to all the Minnesotans who’ve helped us look for him. We’ve appreciated every post, phone call, and email from concerned neighbors. We’re still hoping Afton makes his way back home."

Walz and his wife Gwen live at the governor's mansion on Summit Avenue in St. Paul.
