High-Speed Tesla Crash On I-94 Ramp Kills At Least One In St. Paul

The Minnesota State Patrol said the Tesla exited I-94 at Dale Street at a high rate of speed before colliding with a Toyota RAV4.

UPDATE: St. Paul Man, 31, Killed After Tesla Slams Into SUV Off I-94 Ramp: State Patrol

SAINT PAUL, MN — A high-speed crash involving a Tesla and a Toyota RAV4 killed at least one person early Wednesday on the eastbound Interstate 94 ramp to Dale Street, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Troopers said a 2024 Tesla Model 3 exited the freeway at a high rate of speed around 2:56 a.m. and collided with a 2005 Toyota RAV4 crossing the intersection.

The RAV4 was driven by a 31-year-old man from St. Paul. The Tesla was occupied by a 22-year-old man from Fridley and a 19-year-old woman from St. Paul.

Airbags deployed in both vehicles, the State Patrol said. Names of those involved have not been released.

Ramsey County deputies, St. Paul police, and St. Paul Fire assisted at the scene. Road conditions were dry at the time of the crash.

The State Patrol said it plans to release the names at a later time.
