Lawsuit: Wren Clair Says She Was Groped By Fairgoers During 2023 KSTP Assignment
Wren Clair says she was groped at the 2023 State Fair, and her lawsuit claims KSTP ignored warnings and failed to protect her.
ST. PAUL, MN — Former KSTP meteorologist Wren Clair says she was groped by fairgoers while covering the 2023 Minnesota State Fair and that the station failed to protect her, according to a new lawsuit.
Clair, whose legal name is Renee Fox, filed a 30-page complaint in Ramsey County District Court accusing KSTP of sexual harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination.
The lawsuit claims that during a live assignment at the fair, multiple men approached Clair, demanded hugs and photos, and one poked her breast while another touched her buttocks.

Clair reported the assault to KSTP News Director Kirk Varner and to human resources, raising concerns that she felt unsafe and that security at the station’s fair booth was inadequate.
The lawsuit alleges that her warnings were ignored, and no additional precautions were taken for the 2024 fair.

Instead, Clair says she faced retaliation for repeatedly reporting harassment and discrimination. She was demoted in 2024 and ultimately fired in February 2025, despite strong audience ratings and recent positive reviews, according to the complaint.
Clair is seeking damages under the Minnesota Human Rights Act. KSTP has denied the allegations and said Clair was fired for poor performance, according to the Star Tribune.
Clair, a Hopkins native, now works as a meteorologist at KARE 11.
