ST. PAUL, MN — Sick of robocalls? So is Attorney General Keith Ellison, and on Thursday, he vowed to round up the culprits.

Ellison and 50 bipartisan attorneys general launched Operation Robocall Roundup, sending warning letters to 37 phone providers accused of letting scam calls flood through their networks.

"If there’s one thing that unites us as Minnesotans, it’s our love of the Vikings. If there are two things, it’s our love of the Vikings and our hatred of robocalls,” said Attorney General Ellison.

“Minnesotans are sick and tired of these calls, me included, so I am launching Operation Robocall Roundup to crack down on telecom companies that refuse to follow simple rules to stop illegal robocalls on their networks. If these telecom companies do not comply with rules to prevent robocalls, I am prepared to hold them accountable.”

Officials say the targeted providers have flouted basic FCC rules, opening the gates to scammers who pump calls through their networks and into Minnesotans’ phones. The task force is also warning 99 "downstream" providers they may be doing business with these bad actors.
