Local Beer Fans Dismayed After Tin Whiskers Says It Has To Close

ST. PAUL, MN — The popular Tin Whiskers brewery will close down after eight years in St. Paul's Lowertown neighborhood.

"We have fought hard to keep our brewery running and continue to make the beers you love to drink, but the brewery is no longer sustainable to keep going," Tin Whiskers said on Facebook on March 18.

The brewery will remain open through May, "giving a true Minnesota goodbye."

"We ask that you try to be respectful of our bartenders right now as it is a very difficult time for them," the brewery said in a later post. "They don't have all of the answers."

The news shocked local beer fans, with hundreds of comments flooding the brewery's Facebook page.

"So extremely sad to lose you in our neighborhood," wrote Mary Pitsenbarger Zurn. "You have been our go to spot for delicious beer and a game of cards. And always a warm greeting by your staff. We will miss you!"

"When will the last day open be? I’d like to have one last beer,"added Alyssa Brown.

Founded in 2011, Tin Whiskers is the 21st biggest brewery in Minnesota, according to the Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal.
