Northbound I-35E will also be closed during that time between Highway 5 and I-94. The detour route directs drivers from eastbound I-494 to northbound Highway 52, then west on I-94 to reconnect with I-35E.

MnDOT is working on repairs to nine bridges over I-94 and I-35E this summer. The closures are part of periodic weekend shutdowns required for the bridge maintenance project.

More closures are ahead

Starting Monday, July 28, the Marion Street bridge over I-94 will be closed through late September.

MnDOT urges drivers to slow down, stay alert, and plan ahead, especially when traveling to or from downtown St. Paul during summer events. All work is weather-dependent and subject to change.
