Livestream: Melissa, Mark Hortman Lie In State Friday At MN Capitol
Melissa Hortman will be the first woman to lie in state in the Minnesota Capitol.

ST. PAUL, MN — Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman, her husband Mark Hortman, and their Golden Retriever, Gilbert, will lie in state at the Minnesota Capitol on Friday, June 27.
Melissa Hortman will be the first woman and one of fewer than 20 Minnesotans to receive the rare honor of lying in state in the Capitol Rotunda, according to Gov. Tim Walz’s office.
The public may pay their respects between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Gilbert, the family dog, was put down after the deadly shooting that claimed the lives of the Hortmans earlier this month. He will lie in state with them, the governor’s office confirmed.

A private funeral is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 28. It will also be livestreamed.
