MN Mom Sentenced To Weekend Jail For Sexual Assault Of Teen Boys
Prosecutors had pushed for prison time, saying "If the genders were reversed, there are few who would believe that leniency is appropriate."

BLAINE, MN — A 38-year-old Blaine woman was sentenced to minimal jail time after she admitted in court to sexually assaulting two teenage boys at a hotel who were in from Colorado for a hockey tournament.
Allison Leigh Schardin, 38, was charged in January 2024 with third- and fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct. She pleaded guilty to the third-degree count on Oct. 4, and the fourth count was dismissed.
Judge Joy Bartscher gave Schardin credit for the five days she spent in jail and ordered her to serve two more weekends in jail and perform 200 hours of community service, the Star Tribune reported.

According to a court filling from prosecutors, the teen victims,"lost friends, and they have had to endure whispers and harmful comments from others, as if they were the perpetrators."
"Both victims were initially suspended from their hockey team, though they were later reinstated after they explained what happened," the document continues.

The prosecutors went on to say "the court should also treat the defendant’s behavior as being no less serious than if the defendant were a man and the victims were girls. If the genders were reversed, there are few who would believe that leniency is appropriate."
According to the criminal complaint, on the night of Jan. 14, 2024, Schardin got into a hot tub at a Roseville hotel with two 15-year-old boys.
She confided in them she was having marriage issues, according to police.
In the hot tub, Schardin began talking with the boys about problems with her husband and said she cheated on him a few times and had sex a couple of weeks before at the hotel with a "junior," the criminal complaint states.
At one point, Schardin's husband came to the pool area and yelled words to the effect of: "If you don’t come upstairs, our relationship is over," according to police.
Later that night, Schardin sent a Snapchat to one, saying she and her husband got in a fight and asked if she could stay in their room, authorities said.
She eventually started talking about "sex and stuff," got into bed with two of the boys, and began performing sexual acts on them, according to investigators. She pressured them into doing more but the boys felt uncomfortable, the criminal complaint states.
A third boy was in the room, watching, police said.
Schardin was saying things like "Let’s just do more," "Let's have sex," "We’re already here," and "You already have a 38-year-old woman, a female in your bed, don’t you want to do more?" according to authorities.
One of the boys described feeling stuck in the moment and did not know how to say no, but ultimately told Schardin that he had to go to bed because he had a game the next day and she left, the criminal complaint states.
State court documents reveal that Schardin's husband initiated divorce proceedings in December 2023. However, the case is currently listed as "dormant."
