Suni Lee Statue Stolen In St. Paul, Police Say
The bust honoring the Olympic gold medalist was taken along with its engraved nameplate rock, police said.

SAINT PAUL, MN — A statue honoring Olympic gymnast Suni Lee has been stolen from Lake Phalen, according to the St. Paul Police Department.
The small brass bust, which depicts Lee in her Team USA uniform and was mounted on a stone pedestal, was reported missing this week. Police say the statue, along with the engraved rock bearing her name, were taken within the last day.
Photos shared by the department show the bust in its original spot near the water and then the now-empty pedestal.

The statue was unveiled after Lee became the first Hmong American to compete in the Olympics. She won a gold medal in the all-around gymnastics competition at the Tokyo Games in 2021.
The tribute has served as a point of pride for the East Side community and St. Paul as a whole, where Lee was born and raised.
