Where's My Refund: Check Your IRS And State Tax Refund In MN

Minnesota taxpayers who have already filed their 2024 federal and state income tax returns can track their refunds.

ST. PAUL, MN — Minnesota taxpayers who have already filed their 2024 federal and state income tax returns can track their refunds using the IRS and state "Where’s My Refund" tools.

For those who filed electronically, refund status updates are typically available within 24 hours, while paper filers may need to wait up to four weeks for processing information.

Refund data is updated nightly, so checking multiple times a day is unnecessary.

The IRS provides refund tracking for the 2024 tax year as well as the two previous years. The agency also expects to maintain its recent service levels, including wait times of less than five minutes for assistance.

“Wait times are longer on Mondays and Tuesdays, during Presidents Day weekend and around the April tax filing deadline,” the IRS website says.

Also, the IRS says, refunds may be delayed if returns need corrections or an extra review. The agency will send a letter to those taxpayers.

The IRS expects 140 million people to file individual returns before the filing deadline on Tuesday, April 15. State income tax deadlines also fall on April 15 in most states.

There are some exceptions, and nine states — Alaska, Florida, Nevada, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, and Wyoming — do not have a state income tax.
