15 Spots Left in Shakopee Police Citizen Academy
Applications are due by Monday, Sept. 2.

The Shakopee Police Department is still accepting applications for its Citizen Police Academy. Starting Sept. 12 through Oct. 17, the six-week class will meet on Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Some of the topics covered in the class include:
- Critical incident scenarios;
- Taser demonstration;
- DWI enforcement; and
- Homicide case brief.
There will also be presentations from the SWAT Team and Drug Task Force and a tour of the Scott County Jail, according to a Shakopee Police Department news release.

The free course is offered to anyone who lives, works or has a vested interest in Shakopee and who wishes to experience the many facets law enforcement as encountered by Shakopee officers.
Eligible applicants must be over age 21 and have a good criminal history. Applications are due by Sept. 2. There are still 15 spots available in the class.
