1. According to the National Weather Service, the weather forecast for Shakopee today should be partly sunny and hot, with a high near 92 degrees. Heat index values as high as 103 degrees. South wind between 6 and 13 mph.
2. City of Shakopee construction crews are closing Shenandoah Drive Between 4th Ave. and County Hwy 101 to all traffic from Aug. 1-5 for railroad crossing replacement and street repair.Â

3. Maria Hauger of  on Sunday topped all 17-18 year-old girls in the 3km run at the USA Track and Field National Junior Olympics.
4. According to the Minnesota Historical Society, on this day in 2007, the 35W bridge over the Mississippi River in Minneapolis collapsed during rush hour, killing thirteen and injuring 145. Multilevel investigations into what caused the bridge to fail go on for months; a replacement span opens in the fall of 2008.Â
