1. According to the National Weather Service, the forecast for Aug. 2 calls for a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1pm. It also promises to be partly sunny, with a high near 88 degrees. Southwest wind 7-14 mph becoming north northwest. 

2. City of Shakopee construction crews are closing Shenandoah Drive Between 4th Ave. and County Hwy 101 to all traffic from Aug. 1-5 for railroad crossing replacement and street repair.

3. According to the Minnesota Historical Society, on this day in 1928, President Calvin Coolidge visits Virginia (Minn.) to tour the iron mines.

4. Shakopee public safety officials will randomly visit registered neighborhoods on Tuesday night from 5-9 p.m. for Minnesota's National Night To Unite. According to Shakopee Valley News, SPD visited 70 neighborhoods for the 2010 version of the event.
