Shakopee High School Class of 2012 Will Be First to Graduate at Grace Church

Approximately 473 Shakopee High School students are expected to graduate this year.

School's nearly out for the  Class of 2012, and they will be the first class from Shakopee to graduate off-campus at Grace Church in Eden Prairie on Saturday, June 9.

The move was made last fall because increasingly large class sizes have squeezed graduation guests out of the ceremony formerly held in the school gymnasium. The cost to rent the facility is between $6,000 - $8,000, school officials said.

With the church auditorium accomodating 4,200 people, school officials have said they expect to be able to accomodate all guests. No tickets will be needed. Doors will open at 5 p.m. Saturday and graduates are expected to arrive no later than 5:15 p.m. The ceremony begins at 6 p.m.
