City Conducts Controlled Burns in Shakopee

A controlled burn was conducted by a contractor hired by the City of Shakopee Saturday near 17th Avenue East. It was one of several burns at locations and all have been completed for this year, according to Shakopee Fire Captain Tom Pitschneider.

There are several other burns being conducted by various contractors along with burns conducted by the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux, state DNR and federal Fish & Wildlife staff within the City and Jackson/Louisville Townships.
