The future of Shakopee is looking bright, thanks to the incredible young people working to strengthen our community. In partnership with T-Mobile, Patch is proud to spotlight future leaders like Macy Meilahn-Kinard, who are making a positive impact in and around Shakopee.

Macy, a recent graduate of the University of St. Thomas, was honored with the 2023 President’s Student Volunteer Leadership Award for her exceptional commitment to leadership and community engagement. As a resident assistant, Page Scholar and dedicated volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters, she contributed over 65 hours to mentoring youth in the greater Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area. Her involvement in student organizations, such as the Aquinas Scholars Program, Tommie Marketing Club and Women in Business during her time at St. Thomas, demonstrated her dedication to creating a positive impact on campus and beyond.

A native to the area, having graduated high school just down the road from Shakopee in Eagan, Macy has been heavily involved in the community. She served as a Student Sustainability Leader at St. Thomas, where she organized workshops and initiatives to promote sustainable practices and had internships with UpTurnships and Planting People Growing Justice, showcasing her drive to build a well-rounded career. Macy’s impressive accomplishments and dedication to service made her a standout young leader in the greater Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area.
