Recent Study Says Shakopee Ranks 26th in Minnesota for Quality of Life

Chanhassen ranked the highest in Minnesota in the statistical study.

Shakopee ranks 26th in Minnesota for quality of life, according to a new statistical study by The Business Journals.

Overall, Shakopee ranked 157th out of 955 cities across 12 Midwestern states.

Chanhassen came in with the number one ranking in Minnesota and 23rd in the Midwest, while Brainerd was ranked lowest in the state and 817th in the Midwest. Four Chicago suburbs took the top Midwestern honors.

The Business Journals said a 20-part formula was used to determine the communities with healthy economies, light traffic, moderate costs of living, impressive housing stocks and strong educational systems.

Shakopee statistics listed in the report include Shakopee's homeowner rate at 78.83 percent. It lists the median house value at $238,300 and states that 17.22 percent of homes have nine or more rooms.

It also states that 61.16 percent of residents have a commuting time of 29 minutes or less, among other statistics.
