“Wednesday was the first time we have canceled a race day due to heat,” Canterbury Park President Randy Sampson said. “It was in the best interest of the horses, jockeys, fans and employees to cancel Wednesday’s program. We know the fans really enjoy the tradition of the Wiener Dog Championship and the free hot dogs on Independence Day, so rescheduling those for Saturday was an easy decision.”
