Update: Savage Police Officer Critically Injured in Crash

A prayer page has been set up on Facebook for Frank Mackall.

A 39-year-old Savage police officer was critically injured early Monday morning while responding to an emergency call, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Frank Mackall was reportedly driving his squad car north on Glendale Road shortly after 1 a.m. when he lost control of the vehicle on ice and hit a tree on the west side of the road.

Scott County Sheriff’s Officers and police officers from Burnsville and Savage responded to the crash.

Mackall was taken to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale. He has been an officer with Savage Police Department since 2008 and lives in Shakopee with his wife, Lisabeth, and their three children, according to a report by the Star Tribune. "We're all just hoping and praying for a good outcome," Savage Mayor Janet Williams told the newspaper.

Correction: the Star Tribune's report that Mackall lives in Shakopee seems to be in error. He and his wife are listed on Facebook as living in Coon Rapids.
