Severe Thunderstorm Warning Posted for Scott County

Quarter size hail is possible.

At about 8:30 a.m. today, the National Weather Service posted a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Scott County through 9:30 a.m.

The NWS was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Belle Plaine moving east at 35 mph. Hail up to quarter size hail and winds up to 50 mph are expected.

"Remember, if can hear thunder, you are close enough to the storm to be struck by lightning," the NWS said with the posted warning. "Seek shelter immediately and stay away from windows."
