Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued for Shakopee and Twin Cities Area

A flood watch continues for the Minnesota River as well.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Shakopee and all of Scott County, as well as Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey and other northern Minnesota counties. The watch is in effect until 8 p.m.

Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop to the west this afternoon, then move east though the Twin Cities during the late afternoon and early evening hours. Small hail is possible and the strongest storms could produce hail up to half dollar size. Localized damaging wind gusts are also possible. 

A flood watch continues for the Minnesota River, which at Savage at 9 a.m. Monday was at a stage of 697.8 feet. Bankfull stage is 698.0 feet. Flood stage may be reached by Friday morning and the river is forecast to 703.9 feet on Sunday, June 3.
