The Shakopee Chamber of Commerce will host its Night at the Races event on Friday. The event will be held at Raceway Park in Shakopee.
“This event will be bittersweet as it is the last time we will be able to host this event at Raceway Park since it is scheduled to close after this season,” Angie Whitcomb, president of the Shakopee Chamber and Visitors Bureau is quoted in the Chamber press release. “As one of our members’ favorite events of the year, this event gives us the opportunity to get out of the office and have a blast with friends and family at one of Shakopee’s top entertainment venues.”
In May of this year, the owner of Raceway Park announced that 2013 would be the last season for his business. The last event of the season will be held on Sept. 1.
"Friday Night Destruction" race events include Figure 8's, Flagpole Races, Thunder V8's and the Purple-Green Auto Bash. In the Purple-Green Auto Bash, audience members cheer on their favorite football team in a race where, instead of players, Raceway hosts purple and green cars to battle it out.
Tickets are $24.95 for adults and $12.95 for children ages 5 to 12. Children under 5 can attend for free.
Tickets include food and beverage and the Shakopee Chamber group will be in the VIP Suite.
Reservations are required. Visit the Chamber website to register online and for additional information. You can also contact Events Director Emily Strom at (952) 445-1660 or estrom@shakopee.org to reserve a spot or to ask any questions.
