Update: Shakopee Church Housed in a Movie Theater is Moving – to a Movie Theater

Meadow Spring Community Church has held weekly services at the Marcus Movie Theaters since 1998.

The church that holds services every Sunday in a Shakopee movie theater is moving to a movie theater of their own.

, which has held weekly services at the since 1998, is moving to the former Rex movie theater in Chaska, according to a church blog post.

On Twitter Friday morning, church pastor John Laeger wrote of the building purchase, "BREAKING NEWS! ... It's 100% Official!!!"

The church describes its purpose as, "To bring you into a refreshing relationship with Jesus Christ."  Their services include a "live band on stage, relevant teaching, a casual and relaxed environment, and lots of fun," according to the church website.

The Rex theater closed in late January and a message on their website says, "Thank you for supporting the Rex ... if there were more awesome people like you, we would still be showing movies."

The first grand opening service for what will be known as Meadow Spring Church in the Chaska building is set for September 16.
