Shakopee Man Charged with Food Stamp Fraud

Chin Son Kim, 47, faces up to five years behind bars for the fraud.

A Shakopee man has been charged with defrauding the federal food stamp program out of $29,816.

Federal charges allege that Chin Son Kim, 47, would persuade food stamp recipients into giving him their EBT cards, according to Minnesota Public Radio.

Then he'd take their cards to a cooperating local market, which would ring up the cards as if Kim had purchased legitimate items. Kim would then be given cash or store credit, which he would share with the food stamp recipients.
