Wetsch has been representing himself because his court-ordered public defender refused to split up his counts into separate trials, the Pioneer Press is reporting. He has filed more than 70 motions so far.
Wetsch has not been charged in the robbery of Shakopee's Paragon bank or of Northfield's US Federal Credit Union, though police and the FBI have said they believe the "Man in Black" to have been involved in the robberies.
