Shamrocks and Shenanigans at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival

Beer tasting, kilt competition, and llamas are a few of the activities happening during the last weekend of the Minnesota Renaissance Festival.

(The following is from the Minnesota Renaissance Festival.)

Irish dancers, Guinness Beer, Kilts and much more will be featured on the last weekend of the 2012 season, Sept. 29 and 30, during the Shamrocks and Shenanigans weekend at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival.

Stroll through the Irish Village and visit some of the Irish vendors in the Special Events Field. Lose your lucky penny? Need a new Celtic craft? Shop popular vendors like Got Kilt, Irish Pride and Celtique Creations. It will be your one stop shop for all things Irish.

Patrons can also check out the Harvest Marketplace in the Special Events Field. All participating vendors will be selling all-natural and eco-friendly items. Stop by the Worker B booth and pick up products from their all-natural skin care line or check out the environmentally responsible yarn at Corny Goodness.

Kids will love the llamas wandering around this weekend from Carlson’s Lovable Llamas. Kids will be able to get up close next to these loveable animals to pet and take pictures. The llamas will be roving through the Special Events Field all day.

The Festival is calling all men in kilts to enter the daily Kilt Competition. Proudly show off your attire in the Kilt Competition held in the Special Events Field at 1 p.m. Audience members can cheer loudly for their favorite Kilt and prizes will be awarded to the Best Kilt in the Realm.

It wouldn’t be a true Irish weekend without beer! Come to the Pavilion at 12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. for Free Guinness Beer Tastings. Sample a selection of Guinness Beers and learn about what makes each beer flavorful and unique. Stick around and watch some Irish dancing by the St. Paul Irish Dancers and Greenfire Irish Dancers! Irish dancing is known for its rapid leg and foot movements while the upper body is kept still.
