Soccer Store Opens Across from Shakopee Library

A new soccer store - Golazo - just opened.

The first store in the building recently purchased by Ruben Martinez across from the has opened. 

Golazo, a soccer store, has opened for business next to the former Coffee Bean Café at 238 Lewis St. S.

Martinez, who recently moved back from Boston, bought the building in February and has been fixing it up.

“This is new – out of my area,” the IT security consultant said in March. “I grew up here, though, so it’s fun investing in Shakopee.”

There’s space for four separate businesses in the building and as of late March, he had two takers. In the former Coffee Bean space he said a couple is planning to open a restaurant offering traditional, authentic Mexican food.

Martinez said the people who've opened the soccer store are involved with Shakopee soccer leagues.

“They are really into it and plan to have more stuff for soccer than you might find at a regular sports store,” he said.
