Update: Winter Storm Warning Downgraded to Advisory for Shakopee

Rain and sleet is possible in Shakopee overnight with 1-3 inches of snow possible Wednesday.

So far Shakopee has seen a little snow and rain Tuesday, and while more is on the way, the previously posted winter storm warning has been downgraded to a winter weather advisory as of 3:48 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

The blizzard warning has also been downgraded to a winter storm warning for parts of west central Minnesota because although up to a foot of snow is still expected, winds will not be strong enough to cause widespread whiteout conditions.

In Shakopee, people can expect to see rain and sleet before 9 p.m., then rain until midnight, and then rain and sleet after midnight. The overnight low should be around 31 degrees with an east southeast wind at 17-23 mph, with gusts up to 31 mph. Sleet accumulation of less than a half inch is possible overnight.
