Valleyfair Celebrates 25 Years of High School Physics Day

Valleyfair as a classroom? Not bad.

Thousands of high school students from more than 200 schools across Minnesota, neighboring states and Canada visited  in Shakopee this week. But it wasn't all fun and games. It's part of a yearly tradition known as Physics Day and this year marked the 25th year the amusement park hosted it, according to a report by Minnesota Public Radio.

The park invites students to ride rides and measure things such as: how fast is that roller coaster going? How much force is being exerted in that drop? Both are measurable when you're armed with a few worksheets, formulas and some simple tools to hold during the ride, the report said.

A tweet from Valleyfair this week made note of the annual event.
