City leaders say the added revenue will support street projects, public safety, and modest employee raises, while utility write-offs remain unusually low thanks to persistent local collection efforts.

Brothers Max and Lucas Heiderscheidt and Bransten Rehbein-Weber received Outstanding Citizenship Awards for rushing in without training or gear, helping save a three-year-old boy and another relative despite the tragic loss of Katie Rehbein and the home.

• Edgar J. English (algona.com) — Sleepy Eye is part of the story of Edgar “Ed” English, who attended school there before graduating from Jeffers and later building a life in trucking across the Upper Midwest.
