Flood Watch Issued For Twin Cities Metro

The flood watch is in effect through 4 a.m. Friday.

MINNESOTA — The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for the Twin Cities metro and other parts of central Minnesota and eastern Wisconsin. The flood watch is in effect through 4 a.m. Friday.

Counties included in the watch are Sherburne, Isanti, Chisago, Wright, Hennepin, Anoka, Ramsey, Washington, Carver, Scott, Dakota, Polk, Barron, Rusk, St. Croix, Pierce, Dunn, Pepin, Chippewa, Eau Claire.

"Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of creeks, streams, urban areas, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations," the NWS said.

"Training thunderstorms across eastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin have the potential to produce 3 to 5 inches of rain tonight. The east to west line will slowly sag south through the evening while continuing to back build to the west, leading to the possibility of flash flooding."
