MINNEAPOLIS — Nobody living today was around for the mid-November blizzard of 1886 in the Twin Cities metro area. But according to data from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, it went down as the 13th biggest snowstorm ever recorded in the metro.

The DNR keeps a list of the top 20 snowstorms ever to hit the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. Oct. 31 will mark 31 years since the great "Halloween Blizzard" of 1991, which remains the biggest storm to hit the region in recorded history.

The most recent snowstorm to make the "top 20" list happened in 2018 and was known as the "thunder blizzard."
