Here's Where 2 MN Cities Rank Among Country's Safest

A new report analyzes how safe U.S. cities are on everything from public health crises to natural disasters and shootings.

MINNESOTA — St. Paul ranks No. 34 and Worcester lands at No. 89 in a new analysis of the nation's safest cities. The report comes from the personal finance website WalletHub.

The study doesn't only consider crime when weighing which cities are the safest.

"Threats to safety in the U.S. come in many forms, from public health crises and natural disasters to mass shootings and traffic accidents," according to WalletHub. "To determine where Americans can feel most secure, WalletHub compared more than 180 cities across 41 key indicators of safety."

Minneapolis and St. Paul tied for no. 3 in percentage of households with emergency savings.

  1. South Burlington, Vermont
  2. Casper, Wyoming
  3. Warwick, Rhode Island
  4. Burlington, Vermont
  5. Boise, Idaho

The bottom five cities included Memphis, Detroit, Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and New Orleans.
