Twin Cities Landmarks Light Up In Show Of Support For Ukraine

The I-35W bridge, U.S. Bank Stadium, Allianz Field and other local landmarks were lit in the colors of Ukraine's flag over the weekend.

MINNEAPOLIS — Landmarks throughout the Twin Cities were lit in blue and yellow over the weekend to show support for the people of Ukraine after the country was invaded last week by Russian military forces.

“We stand united with Ukrainians here in Minnesota and around the world,” the Minnesota Department of Transportation tweeted Friday morning, announcing the I-35W bridge would be lit in blue and yellow.

The U.S. Bank Stadium, Capella Tower, Target Field, Allianz Field and other local landmarks were also lit in the color of Ukraine's flag in a show of solidarity.

Officials from Ukraine and Russia met Monday for diplomatic talks "after Moscow ran into unexpectedly stiff resistance" when it invaded Ukraine last week, the Associated Press reported.
