Last Chance: Help Shape Future Of Linden Hills

It takes a special kind of person to get excited by zoning law, rather than fall asleep or run away in confusion. But when a developer comes calling, we're all glad to know at least one of them. Now, it's time for those special folks to stand up and be counted.

As Patch reported last month, Linden Hills is developing a to help the community decide on what they want to see built in their main commercial nodes. But the task force the neighborhood organization is setting up to oversee the process needs help—your help.

According to the Linden Hills Neighborhood Council website, here's what volunteers will be getting into:

• Help determine the Scope of Services and ultimate cost of the Small Area Plan.
• Participate in the initial public meeting, which will give the community an opportunity to learn why a Small Area Plan is needed, the proposed Scope of Services and cost of the Small Area Plan, where the funds would come from and to vote to approve or oppose spending funds for a Small Area Plan.

If neighborhood gives the go-ahead for , the steering committee would:

• Draft an RFP (request for proposal).
• Review proposals and help select a planning consultant
• Host future public meetings.
• Act as a sounding board throughout the Small Area Planning process.
