Minibiker Killed In Hit-And-Run Crash In Minneapolis: Police

Police are working to determine if drug or alcohol intoxication was a factor in the deadly crash.

MINNEAPOLIS — A man was riding a motorized minibike when he was struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash in Minneapolis on Monday, police said.

At about 5:30 p.m., officers responded to the crash in the 2400 block of Washington Avenue South and found a man with apparent life-threatening injuries.

Officers provided medical aid until EMS arrived, but the man was declared deceased at the scene.

The man was riding a motorized minibike westbound on 24th Avenue North when he attempted to turn onto Washington Avenue North.

At that point, a vehicle speeding northbound on Washington Avenue struck the motorized minibike, police said.

The driver of the speeding vehicle ran from the scene on foot before officers arrived, according to authorities.

However, the driver was found, arrested, and booked into Hennepin County Jail on suspicion of criminal vehicular homicide.
