Minneapolis School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in Minneapolis is August 28 for grades 1-12 and August 30 for kindergarten. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The Minneapolis Public School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

Here is the full list of dates to know for this school year:

August

• 8/22 - 8/25: Teacher Prep/PD Days
• 8/28: First Day of School Grades 1-12
• 8/30: First Day of Kindergarten

September

• 9/4: No School (Labor Day)

October

• 10/18: No School for Students (Parent-Teacher Conference Day)
• 10/19: No School for Students (State Fall Conference Day)
• 10/20: No School for Students (Conference Conversion Day)

November

• 11/1: First Quarter Ends
• 11/2: No School for Students (Teacher Prep/PD Day)
• 11/3: No School for Students (Teacher Record-keeping Day)
• 11/6: Second Quarter Begins
• 11/22 - 11/24: No School (Thanksgiving Holiday)

December

• 12/25: No School, Winter Recess Begins (Ends 1/5)

January

• 1/8: Back to School
• 1/15: No School (Martin Luther King Holiday)
• 1/24: Second Quarter Ends
• 1/25: No School for Students (Teacher Prep/PD Day)
• 1/26: No School for Students (Teacher Record-keeping Day)
• 1/29: Third Quarter Begins

February

• 2/16: No School for Students (Parent-Teacher Conference Day)
• 2/19: No School (Presidents Day)

March

• 3/29: Third Quarter Ends
• 3/30: No School for Students (Record Keeping Day)

April

• 4/2 - 4/6: No School (Spring Recess)
• 4/9: Fourth Quarter Begins

• 5/28: No School (Memorial Day)

June

• 6/11: Graduation
