MN Is Back In The Drought Zone, But Rain Is On The Way

Despite the unusually wet summer, most of the state is experiencing some degree of drought thanks to our extremely dry fall.

MINNEAPOLIS — It's been weeks since much of Minnesota has seen a good rain. As a result, and despite the unusually wet summer, most of the state is experiencing some degree of drought.

The good news is that rain is finally back in the forecast after the long dry spell. Unfortunately, it will be on the lighter side, according to the National Weather Service:

Thursday: A slight chance of showers before 4pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 4pm and 5pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 5pm. Increasing clouds, with a high near 65. South wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
Thursday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 10pm, then showers likely between 10pm and 1am. Low around 43. South wind 5 to 10 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 53. South wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
