MN Coronavirus Deaths Cross 1,100

MINNEAPOLIS, MN —State health officials reported another 29 coronavirus-related deaths Thursday, along with an additional 404 lab-confirmed cases of the disease that to date has killed a total of 1,115 Minnesotans.

The number of completed tests continues to rise as well, with external labs accounting for more than 250,000 tests since mid-March. Over the same timespan, the state has recorded 26,273 cases, with 21,490 people having since recovered and no longer needing isolation.

Earlier this week, state health commissioner Jan Malcolm noted concerns about the ongoing protests and a potential for a related spike in infections; she acknowledged it as a "possibility," but added, "I don't think anyone is in a position to make any specific prognostications."

As of Thursday, Minnesota's COVID-19 statistics:
