More Than 20 Minnesota Businesses Restricted From Buying Cannabis Products
More than 20 Minnesota businesses were restricted from buying new cannabis products.
ST. PAUL, MN — More than 20 Minnesota businesses, including bars, restaurants, and smoke shops, have been restricted from buying new cannabis products for resale after falling behind on state taxes, according to the Minnesota Department of Revenue.
The agency’s October cannabis delinquency list, released Oct. 16, identifies taxpayers that are at least 10 days late in filing or paying cannabis-related taxes.
Under state law, cannabis cultivators, manufacturers, and wholesalers cannot sell or deliver products to those businesses beginning Oct. 20.

A handful of businesses were recently cleared. Smith Liquors in West St. Paul, Huff and Puff Smoke Shop in Vadnais Heights, and Wandering Spirits in Plymouth, all operated by Freedom Team LLC, were removed from the list on Oct. 16 after resolving their tax issues.
According to the Department of Revenue, being placed on the cannabis delinquency list does not prevent businesses from continuing operations or selling products already in their possession. It only restricts them from purchasing additional cannabis products for resale.
The list is updated regularly under Minnesota Statute 270C.726, which directs the Department of Revenue to identify delinquent taxpayers and notify the state’s Office of Cannabis Management.
