TWIN CITIES, MN — Minnesota will see record heat early this week before temperatures plummet, just in time for Halloween.

Tuesday will see highs hit 80 degrees. Then Thursday will see lows at or below freezing.

"Much above normal temperatures to start the week with records max temperatures possible today and tomorrow," the National Weather Service said Monday.

"Rain moves in late Tuesday into Wednesday with a big cool down expected. The wide range in temperatures area based on the areas ahead of and behind the cold front."

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 74. Breezy, with a south wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Monday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 60. South southeast wind 5 to 15 mph.

Tuesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 80. South wind 5 to 15 mph.

Tuesday Night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 58. South southwest wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Wednesday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 1pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 1pm and 4pm, then a chance of showers after 4pm. Temperature falling to around 56 by 5pm. South southwest wind around 15 mph becoming north northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
