Snow, Ice To Cover Twin Cities Metro Tuesday: NWS
Forecasters are calling for several inches of snow in the Twin Cities metro by Tuesday evening, with a light glaze of ice also possible.
MINNESOTA — Much of Minnesota should expect “another round of snow and freezing drizzle” Tuesday, with several inches of snow possible in the Twin Cities metro by the evening, according to the National Weather Service.
Eastern Minnesota is under a winter weather advisory through 6 p.m. Tuesday, and forecasters are warning drivers to expect “slippery road conditions” that “could impact the evening commute.”
The winter weather advisory covers nine Minnesota counties, including Hennepin, Anoka, Ramsey, Wright and Carver, while a hazardous weather outlook was issued for much of the state Tuesday.

The National Weather Service said snow will develop across Minnesota on Tuesday morning before pushing into Wisconsin in the afternoon. Snowfall totals are expected to range from 3-5 inches in central Minnesota, while up to 2 inches could fall in eastern Minnesota, the NWS said.

Forecasters are also calling for a minor accumulation of ice Tuesday, followed by much colder temperatures for the rest of the week.

Here’s the National Weather Service’s forecast for the Twin Cities metro:
Tuesday
Snow before 4 p.m., then a chance of snow and freezing drizzle. High near 25. East wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. Little or no ice accumulation expected. Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
Tuesday night
A slight chance of snow between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. Cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around -3. Wind chill values as low as -12. East wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west northwest in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
Wednesday
Partly sunny, with a high near 8. Wind chill values as low as -15. West northwest wind around 5 mph.
Wednesday night
Mostly cloudy, with a steady temperature around 5. Calm wind.
Thursday
Partly sunny, with a high near 18. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph in the morning.
