Take A Tour Of Gorgeous Minneapolis Gardens

With a summer heat wave bearing down upon our heads, it's hard to even think of spending an afternoon outside, working in the garden. But Tangletown's think you could use a little boost to your inspiration.

At the end of this month, the garden center will host its sixth annual Art and Garden Tour. According to co-owner Scott Endres, the tour will mix works by local visual artists with works by local horticultural artists, including several designed by Tangletown Gardens staff. Artists' work will be paired thematically and stylistically with individual gardens Some staff will even be opening up their own personal gardens to tour-takers.

"They live three doors appart from each other, but it's like three different worlds and styles," Endres said. "We'll get to see what their life is like outside of work."

For his part, Endres said he's looking forward to seeing the work of one Uptown gardener, whose lot mixes a very old house with a very contemporary garden.

Each year, the tours target a different part of the Twin Cities. This year, the tour starts in Tangletown, then winds its way to St Louis Park via the southern shore of Lake Calhoun. To get into private gardens on the tour—and the party afterwards at Tangletown Gardens—you'll need tickets from Endres' store.
