1. St. Cloud, Rockville and Sauk Rapids get state funding for water projects (stcloudlive.com) — St. Cloud is getting more than $2.3 million in state funding to replace about 187 lead water service lines with safer copper pipes, a project that directly affects local homes and health. Neighboring Rockville and Sauk Rapids also received money for lift station upgrades and line replacements, as part of nearly $92 million awarded statewide for clean drinking water and wastewater improvements. 
2. After getting help from MACV, this Navy veteran is now helping connect others to resources they need (cbsnews.com) — A St. Cloud Navy veteran who once struggled with addiction and homelessness is now a certified peer recovery specialist helping others find hope and resources through Recovery Community Network. After prison and support from MACV and the St. Cloud VA, he rebuilt his life, bought a home, and is studying at St. Cloud State University to become a drug counselor, showing local veterans what recovery can look like.
3. North Star Air Show scheduled for 2026 at St. Cloud Sky Central Airport (stcloudlive.com) — St. Cloud residents can look forward to the North Star Air Show returning Aug. 1–2, 2026, at the newly rebranded St. Cloud Sky Central Airport. Featuring the U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptor Demonstration Team, warbirds, and family-friendly attractions, organizers say the event is designed to boost local tourism, showcase aviation, and raise the airport’s regional profile.
4. Stearns Co. To Improve Severe Weather Alerts With 10 New Weather Stations (wjon.com) — St. Cloud residents will benefit from improved severe-weather monitoring as Stearns County adds 10 new weather stations across nearby cities, supplementing two existing stations in St. Cloud. Data from these sites will feed local emergency management and the National Weather Service, helping sharpen storm alerts without costing taxpayers, thanks to a small Public Safety Foundation grant.
5. Rewriting the rules: The University of Minnesota's drive toward a healthier future (umn.edu) — The University of Minnesota is spotlighting new health research and training efforts that could benefit Minnesotans, including a new medical campus in St. Cloud aimed at boosting rural healthcare. Local residents may soon see more medical students training and eventually practicing in central Minnesota, as the program expands access to care while exploring advances in cancer, autism, and holistic wellbeing.
